Polo anyone?

We handle animal mats!
But all Polo and horse people know that horses are way more than just an animal, they become a big part of the family and in some cases big business (assets).

Either way - your Polo Pony should have and needs to have a proper stall, isle way, and grooming area. In order to have comfort and safety you need to have the best in matting. Plus it can look really nice and make you the envy of your friends and or competition.

I just got done quoting The International Polo Connection, this really brought the Polo industry to my attention. We have always been involved with horses, from my younger days watching my sister as a hunter jumper to today, where we are involved with cutting horses.

I've seen dirt stalls that can be dirty and dangerous. I've seen cement stalls that can really be dangerous, they can be too hard on the feet and legs and a slipping hazard.

These are Humane mats, the highest in quality and manufacturing - or we would not be carrying them, Mymatting.com. And at the best pricing I might say!
They make these mats with a 12 year warranty and the mats do not turn up (a big problem with animal mats). They have an extreme process;
  • The mats are re-vulcanized (very, very fine grinding process, 93%-94% recycled, High Heat/Pressure molded).
  • NO polymer glues, that can breakdown and have the mats fall apart quicker.

  • We can have them, for not much more money, water-jet cut them to fit. Most of our pricing already includes this service! These mats are so tough, I was only able to make a dent with my reciprocating saw/saws-all.

    As a side note:
Have you heard about polocrosse, no not lacrosse and not polo, but polocrosse a mixture of the two.

    Horse Trailer mats

The other day a customer calls with a complaint about our Trailer Mats. This was for a 6' x 8' mat that comes in two pieces.

My customer did not know the two mats were two 4' x 6' mats, and that they run side to side with the seam running width wise. Because the trailer is 6' wide it is designed for you to lay the two mats 6' for the width and then the two 4' sides would cover the 8' trailer length (see diagram below). The customer and I too thought the mats should be length wise with the seam in the middle.

He did not like that the seam went across the mat/trailer and the horse would have to travel across the seam. At this point I always like the customer to know that we will be there for them and to help!

I did some research on this, with the manufacturer (Humane - one of the best in Animal Rubber mats), and some research with experienced horse people, people who had trailers and mats. They would be able to help guide me in the right direct, to help my customer make sure he had the correct mat for the job.

It turns out this is the way the mat is suppose to lay, with the seam going across the width (as in the diagram above)!

-This is a great manufacturer and they have a 12 year warranty, these mat will not curl or bend up. This means the seam will not be an issue.

    -The mats are made in a superior way;

They are re-vulcanized (very, very fine grinding process, 93%-94% recycled, HighHeat/Pressure molded)

NO polymer glues, that can breakdown and have the mats fall apart quicker

Experienced people that have had horses and trailers for years have told me:
-If the horse can make it from the ground up on to the ramp and then cross the open hing area between the ramp and the trailer and then into the trailer, this seam will not be a problem. Not to mention the seam will Not be close to the animals feet when they are all loaded into the trailer.
-When the horse is in the trailer they can paw at the mat, if they are standing on a mat that runs the length instead of the the width, they can bunch up the mat and that can be dangerous.

So laying the mats width wise in your trailer is a superior way!

Motormat (Daytona tile) by Sport Court

As I mentioned in a previous article on the Deck / Drain tile (Tylon), the headings or names for the Sport Court brands are a bit confusing. An example being that the Sport Court name or brand used to be Connor Sport Court, and the Motormat brand was known as the Daytona tile (also known under the name Sport Tread and don't forget Circle Tile).

Have no fear they are all the same brand, however I think we are trying to shoot for Sport Court as the manufacturer and Motormat is brand for their garage floor mat products that come with different tops or patterns, Sport Tread pattern and the Circle top or pattern. To take this a step further, Sport Court has a product that they are now branding as the Drain or Deck tile.
and the best place to get it with the pricing and service is Mymatting.com .

The picture below shows the Tread (unique one of a kind) and Circle patterns. You can get 7 colors also.

Notice in the picture above that they are using the Drain Tile and the Motormats Sport Tread together. Using the openings of the Drain Tile where the wheels go (better drainage and traction). The openings used for drainage and traction could be a walk way for people traffic, if you wished. You can create any sort of floor using different colors, top patterns or different design brands. You could get a border, car only areas, walk areas, specific areas for tools or storage, let you imagination flow

These tiles are made from a very tough plastic that will probably out live you a few times over. They have very strong supports all over the underside of the tiles, this keeps the mat up off the cement and allows liquids to flow away and more importantly airflow for drying and letting the cement breath.

They snap together so easily and quickly! The type of connection allows for expansion and contraction during temperature changes, it also allows installation over lets than perfect areas.

How much you say ? Pretty reasonable, especially when you calculate how long your garage will be there because I bet the tiles will out last it.

Sport Courts (Connor); Motormat (Daytona), Drain & Deck tile (Tylon)

I had a customer looking for something to cover his deck with, he wanted to build it with that plastic that looked just like wood (two by fours and such), however they were way to expensive. You also will have a lot of labor and or labor cost involved, because you still have to measure, cut and build the deck.

We found him a much better alternative! And at the best price on the net !
Sport Court's Deck Tile; if you noticed the title of this blog you will note the different names, these products are known under all these names.

Deck Tile, can be known as the Drain tile and also Tylon

The above picture shows a top and bottom view.

COMFORT - Notice how on the top view the pattern has a cross or triangle pattern, and notice that the edges of the little strips making up this pattern are a rounded edge. This makes it more comfortable on the barefeet. We have a scale of 1 - 3 for barefeet comfort and 1 is the most comfortable. The Deck tile rates about a 2 bordering on a 1 rating, this makes it great for decks where barefeet may tread.

TRACTION - The openings in Sport Courts Drain tile (Deck tile) is great for traction, not only do your feet grab better but the openings allow liquids to drain away.

CLEANER - With all those openings the dust and dirt will fall through and or get knocked off the edges and down through, keeping the surface looking cleaner than the solid top tiles.

SUPPORT - If you look at the bottom view you will see all kinds of strong support legs, these serve many purposes. They allow liquids and debris to flow and also allow air to pass between the tile and the cement (or other surface).

COLORS/PATTERNS - These Deck tiles (Tylon) by Sport Court (Connor) come in different colors, you can combine colors to create a border, walk ways, designate areas of usage, whatever your wild mind can think of.

LASTING - These tiles are made of plastic material and will not absorb any liquids and are very tough. These Deck tiles could be around a lot long than you will be

SIZES - Deck Tiles come in 12"x12" tiles, they snap together easily and quickly. You can create any size that you need, no limits. You can even add on the them later, re-arrange if need be. The connection process is such that it will allow for expansion and contraction with the changing temperatures and somewhat allows for uneven or damage base surfaces. The connection also cuts down on inguries from sudden change of directions, allowing the tiles to absorb some of the pressure.

GARAGE FLOOR MATS - They work great with our Motormat (Daytona tile) from Sport Court. Connects well to it (same basic design) and allows for airflow and drainage in the garage. Also basements, shed floors, and more.

Watertight tile - Our new Atlas Garage Floor Mat

This is a great tile it really seems to cover all the bases, clean and attractive connection process, easy install because of the connection process and that they come in 2'x2' size (make the job go much faster). More on the newest Garage floor mat

We now have pictures for our newest product, The Atlas Garage Floor Mat.

    Coin top pattern

It also comes in a finger top pattern that can be connected to and combined with the coin top garage mat/tile.

This shows the garage floor matting under side & connections.

The connections are under the mat so they are not seen after you install the mats, this leaves a great seamless look. The underneath side has opening that allow air flow and the cement to breath. Easy and faster installation with the 2'x2' sizes.

Easy quick connections, soft yet tough design.

Some of the 12"x12" tiles are made of rigid hard plastic, when snapped together and installed they can have quite the noisy clickity clackity sound when walked on. The Atlas Garage Floor mat and tile is made of a flexible 100% recycled yet very tough PVC plastic. This mean it is literally more flexible and easier to install and work with and is not as noisy as the hard plastic mats.

    Anti Slip and Anti Fatigue

Good question; Looking for fatigue relief mats, he has some oil on the floor from time to time, what mat would we need?

I have two mats that come to mind first, keep in mind we do carry all matting products.

    You mentioned anti-fatigue and slipping;

There are two ways to get anti slip and fatigue, the design of the mat and grit. Grit (Grit Tile) is small granules of metal shavings adhered to a hard plastic 12”x12” tile, you will “not slip” on these mats period, and that is where the anti fatigue comes from (not sliding and skidding around). These grit mats do tend to shed the grit and over time will have to be replaced, that is why they come in the 12”x12” size (only replace the ones needed). Lots of mats out that will say slip resistant or slip proof, but the grit mat will be your only mat that will not allow slipping.
Click picture for more information and ask about GRIT TILE

Your second choice is a new product (Airomat) that gets its anti slip performance from the design. Keep in mind they can help with slipping but are not as good as the grit. These mats come with a large square openings about an 1”x1” with ¼” strips separating the openings. You get two things with the openings, they allow almost all of the oil to drain through and two your foot grabs down in the opening against the strips for better footing and reduced slipping. This mat is made of a softer PVC which gives you more fatigue relief, rolls up for easy cleaning. This mat comes in any width or length and any color or color combination (safety strips).

I have not heard back from the customer yet, but I will keep you posted if this helped or if we found a different solution.

    New Garage floor mat

There is a new garage mat out!
Exciting news, this mat comes in a 2'x2' size. This is a real benefit, you can create any size you need and not only that but you can add to it later. The thickness is about 7/16 (that's just under a half inch). Very nice thickness, you do not have to worry about the tires turning the mat underneath, or the mat moving. Yet it is not as thick as some of the 12"x12" tiles out there, to thick can cause all kinds of problems, from fitting under doors and raising the floor to high in doorways and more.
The top pattern is a really nice coin top pattern, looks really nice. Comes in Black and comes in Gray.
It has a grid pattern underneath, this allows air flow and lets the cement breath, some of the garage floor mats out there lay flat on the garage floor. Not great for the cement but those mats are a one piece roll that will hold the liquids on top, unlike the 12"x12" tiles that allow liquids/water to leak through.
What about pricing - Well lets see the rolled goods (G-Floor) is around the 2 dollars square foot range and the tiles (racedeck, and others) are above the 3 dollar range. But you get all the benifits of the mat at a cost of under 2 dollars a square foot - Wow!
We will keep you informed about this product, its not on a website yet, but you can buy it - call Mymatting.com 800-348-4905 or visit the website for contact information.
Yippy!!! a new garage floor mat...

    Diamond foot, Safety and Anti-Fatigue

What is a Chevron mat? A distributor calls and ask this question, a customer is asking for this what is it? I'm sure Chevron has many different meanings, however in this case its a border on a mat. The Diamond Foot to be specific, this is a great mat. It's like two mats in one, Safety mat and Anti Fatigue mat (Fatigue Relief) all "rolled up" (get it? mat joke!) into one mat.
Great design and a great price too!

It has a foam backing that is very tough as well as comfortable, and It does not absorb liquids. Its covered with a PVC soild (no opeings) top, with a anti slip Diamond pattern molded in. Now, you do get Safety with comfort. As your people work all day the more comfortable you can keep them the safer they will be. But that's not the only safety aspect to this mat - it comes with Safety Borders. Thats right, colored borders that add to the safety of this mat. You choose the color, maybe each department has a color scheme to it, no more stealing mats from other areas. Maybe you have different warnings you want to put out there for different areas, use the different coloring to set these areas off. Back to the "Chevron" word, this is a color or should I say pattern you can choose. The normal color border runs down each side of the length of the mat. The Chevron has a yellow strip at a 45 degree angle then black, then yellow and so on.
Border Colors: Yellow, Green, Chevron, Red, Blue, Orange, Gray - Or just get a solid color mat if you'd like. See more information at Mymatting.com

Waterhog Fashion & Waterhog Premier Fashion

Waterhog Premier Fashion is a heavier face weight 36 oz.
Waterhog Fashion, 24 oz. weight (normal weight)

Whether you talking a garage floor mat, or a commercial entrance or entry mat, Waterhog is the leader.

I had a customer asking questions regarding the Water hog entrance mat. There are several different versions and it can get confusing.
There is the Waterhog Premier Fashion (some people spell it Water hog), Waterhog Premier, Waterhog Classic & Classic Diamond, and Waterhog Fashion & Fashion Diamond.
The question was "does the Waterhog fasion have the same capacity of holding water as the Waterhog Classic?" Before I answer that question, you need to know that very simply the Fashion has carpet over the black rubber edging that matches the carpet mat color, and the Classic only has the rubber edge.
Look at these two pictures, notice the edging, one has carpet over it and rubber under.

This is the only difference (carpet over the rubber edge), so of course the different Waterhog mats will hold the same amount. The same superior design, with rubber nubs under the carpet, the canals or groves that trap debris, dirt, mud, and water and other liquids away.
Again, lay them on the garage floor, front entrance, back entry, anyplace you want to trap dirt and water and keep your house, office or industrial areas clean.
